Motley Crow! – Ontario’s newest bassoon quartet plays arrangements from Piazzolla and Verdi to Rogers and Ellington

Once again we are offering five entertaining concerts designed to stimulate your appetite for music as well as relax you for the weekend. As with every year, artists from the Kingston area and guests from farther away share their musical talent and passion in five concerts encompassing: classical, jazz, string and wind music.

This Friday’s concert features Katie Legere, Ben Glossop, Orlando Corabian, and Elliot MacDonald playing a wide selection of highly entertaining music arranged for bassoon quartet. 

The concert is at 5 pm at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, 263 Victoria Street. Admission is $15 at the door but only $5 for Queen’s students!

The Magic of the Santur!   with Sadaf Amini 

Once again we are offering five entertaining concerts designed to stimulate your appetite for music as well as relax you for the weekend. As with every year, artists from the Kingston area and guests from farther away share their musical talent and passion in five concerts encompassing: classical, jazz, string and wind music.

This Friday’s concert features Sadaf Amini,  the award winning Iranian born musician and composer, introducing you to the beautiful and rich sounds of the traditional hammered dulcimer-like instrument from Iran with roots as far back as 1600 BC in Mesopotamia. 

The concert is at 5 pm at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, 263 Victoria Street. Admission is $15 at the door but only $5 for Queen’s students!

Happy Hour Sound Bytes this Friday, May 10 at 5pm features Katie Legere, Chris Alfano, William Egnatoff and Valery Lloyd-Watts

Happy Hour Sound Bytes returns this Friday, May 10 at 5pm for our final concert of the 2018-2019 Season!

Our program is entitled ‘A Box of Chocolates’ and includes Chris Alfano on sax and clarinet, Katie Legere on bassoon, William Egnatoff on flute and our special guest Valery Lloyd-Watts on piano.

The program title embraces the new inclusion of Jame’s Grant’s “Chocolates” in which Katie and Valery will perform Valentine and Chris and Valery will preform Triple Mocha Indulgence.

The program will also feature Valery performing and talking about a couple of her favourite works for piano and joining Chris (on alto sax) and Bill Egnatoff playing the very beautiful Epitaph For Jean Harlow by Charles Koechlin.

Concert is at 5pm at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, 263 Victoria Street. Admission is $15 at the door but only $5 for Queen’s students!

Salute to the Big Bands – Happy Hour Sound Bytes this Friday, March 15th

Happy Hour Sound Bytes returns this Friday, March 15th at 5pm with a Salute to the Big Bands.

This concert features Taylor Donaldson, trombone (from Montreal) in an octet including Katie Legere on Bari Sax and Chris Alfano on Tenor, playing all your favorite swing tunes from the Big Band Era.
